Tips For Selecting Custom Background Image For Your Twitter Profile
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 7:11Every blogger better knows about what twitter is and what it is doing for us? Even people who doesn’t come to know about social networking they used to sign up for the various profiles. My guess MySpace ,Facebook, Orkut and Twitter are the famous all over the world. Most of the social networking services are giving facility of profile customization for the users. Out of them twitter provides simplest profile front page for the users, it is easy to handle and customize. If you own a twitter profile and using it without any customization then, other twitter members would consider you in the list of inactive twitter user.
We are the people who are using twitter for personal business branding, or for friendship networking, .For business branding you have not to loose any chance of telling people who are you. So it’s a time to put custom background image for your twitter profile if till you doesn’t have it. Uploading background image is the simplest thing but before putting it let us consider some facts. Use step below to do it.
- Log in to your twitter account
- Go to setting- design tab
- Click change background image
- Click browse-
- Click your image to upload from PC
- Choose JPG or PNG file with max 800 KB
Select to tile image if your single image is too small to cover whole screen. Sometimes ,after you click “save changes” there would be the chance that page with message “something is technically wrong” or blue whale image would appear. Don’t worry, just refresh the page.
Twitter profile page consist of two fixed part. One is the sidebar and another is twitter update section which can be also use for providing your “followers” and “following” list. My question is what is screen resolution where you used to open your twitter account? OK! Let us we consider most recommended 1024*768 screen resolution.
- Twitter profile active page is fixed because it’s of size 760 pixels for any resolution.
- Twitter active page is fixed because it’s positioned in center always.
- It’s located at margin of 70 pixels from the top of the viewing screen.
- Within margin there is twitter logo and Navigation bar.
Things to consider when selecting background image with tiling it.
If you select image background with tiling then, it would cover all background with tiled image and will looks great, but with changing screen resolution important part of image will get hides inside twitter working screen. You can see my twitter profile in different screen resolution. My site name text on the logo hides inside 1024 wide screen but, looking well with higher resolution. That’s it. So choose small (in width and height) Image wisely or put important part or text vertically on small image.

Things to consider selecting background image without tiling.
Case1-If you select small image without tiling it then, it will appears at top left of screen. But remaining part will fills with default color. Nobody likes it and nobody using it.
Case2-You can use wallpaper of 1024* 768 as a twitter background. Out of 1024 pixel 760 pixel middle section will get disappears behind working screen. So choose wallpaper having attractive part on both sides with 120 pixels strip. This is the case for width. Remember same thing about height as there are 70 pixels at top is open to show. You can put your bio at left side with 120 pixel strip for background Image that you choose.

Things to consider when selecting background image for screen other than 1024 pixel wide.
What to do when you work with other than 1024 pixel resolution? If you want to fit your image with higher resolution then, use wallpaper width with highest possible resolution width. Same thing you can do with height. So no chance of displaying default background color when you go without tiling the image and you can see full view of background for any resolution.
There are many sites that providing attractive twitter custom background with considering all this resolution variation and facts. This is the reason why they known as twitter custom background galleries and not the normal wallpaper galleries.
